The Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester
Established to develop the cultural and social ties between the Muslim and Jewish communities of Greater Manchester
Ephraim Mirvis, the Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth, was one of our two chief guests at our 10 Anniversary Celebration. He has been an eloquent voice for interfaith harmony since long before his inauguration as Chief Rabbi in 2013.
Accordingly we were delighted to read the following citation in the New Year Honours List 2023:
Order — Order of the British Empire
Sub-order — Knights Commander of the Order of the British Empire
Award (Full Title) — Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire
Nominee: Title — Chief Rabbi
Nominee: Forename — Ephraim Yitzchak
Nominee: Surname — MIRVIS
Short Citation — For services to the Jewish Community, to Interfaith Relations and to Education
Nominee: Town or city — London
Nominee: County — Greater London
Sir Ephraim being a "Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire" means that "KBE" belongs after his name when it is being written formally as in our letter to him.

On the same day as the announcement, we wrote to congratulate Sir Ephraim. You can read our letter below.
