The Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester
Established to develop the cultural and social ties between the Muslim and Jewish communities of Greater Manchester
13 December 2015
On Sunday 13 December, we held our annual festive party jointly with Faith Network 4 Manchester (FN4M) at the Manchester Multifaith Centre.
Approximately forty people attended and there was a very convivial atmosphere. The guests enjoyed both an extensive buffet of Asian food organised by Qaisra Shahraz and another plentiful kosher buffet organised by Jonny Wineberg, whose tasty vegetable soup was very well received on a cold, damp night.
The guests included two former Lord Mayors of Manchester, Afzal Khan CBE MEP and Cllr Naeem Ul Hassan
There were three short presentations.
Rev Bob Day said "To meet together to learn about each others’ faith traditions relating to the festivals of light was a good experience. Light and peace being something that we all need more of in these difficult days. Sharing food and laughter is always a good way of dispelling fear and gloom. Thanks to all those who worked hard to put on such an excellent event"
June Rosen, a member of the Forum’s Executive Committee said "Delicious food and delightful company. All faiths together for friendship and fun. A great evening."
Below is a group photo from the event.
