20 August 2014
The Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester is appalled by the attack on Muslim graves in Chadderton Cemetery last weekend. We condemn these despicable actions and send our sympathies to the relatives of those whose gravestones were vandalised .
This attack follows a similar one on the Jewish Cemetery in Blackley just 2 months ago.
Respect for burial places forms an essential part of both Judaism and Islam, as well as all other major religions. Accordingly we fail to understand how anyone could be motivated to carry out such an attack. We call on all citizens of Greater Manchester to ensure that the universal human value of respect for burial places is passed on to all generations in our communities.
